The Asbestos Diseases Society of Victoria runs a Support Group for people affected by asbestos related diseases (ARD).
The ARD Support Group is open to people that have been diagnosed with an asbestos related disease, their carers, families and friends, and bereaved carers, families and friends. The group provides a forum where people can meet and discuss issues that enhance and support their understanding of their diagnosis. It offers friendship and understanding in an inclusive and safe environment.
Sessions cover a range of topics including medical treatments, pain management, health and nutrition, financial management and legal issues. Guest speakers are periodically invited to share their knowledge and experience with the group. Group members play an active role in identifying topics for discussion which are of relevance to them .
